Catching Up

Wow!  It's been a really long time!

Beau is now 17 months old, and has outgrown all but two of his sweaters.  Not a very happy picture here, but he is usually very smiley.

Beverly's first project with me.
I got a new-to-me loom, a 1974 LeClerc Nilus 4-shaft, whose name is Beverly, named after its first owner.  I set right to work, making placemats and mug rugs, and am now working on a new warp of placemats.  Super fun!  It's so smooth, and it very sturdy.  It's much bigger than Jenny, my LeClerc Artisat, who is my first loom love, but can't weave heavier textiles. After Christmas, Beverly might help me make some rugs.

And this summer, I took a class at John C. Campbell Folk School.  What fun that was!  It was a class in natural dyes, how to grow the material, how to make the solutions, and how to treat the dyed fibers.  It was so nice to be back in Brasstown.  I took a zillion pictures of the surroundings, and met up with some lovely old friends.

Now is the busy time for me, knitting and weaving for Christmas, and dreaming up what my cookie boxes for the neighbors will contain.
The Christmas cacti have started early, as usual, and sit in my studio window where I can see them from the weaving bench.
I've knitted a bear for Beau, and am working on a sweater for the bear, though it's taught me that color-work knitting is not my forte.  I'm determined to finish it, so I'll post a picture when I'm done.
And that's me all caught up!  Just a lot of knitting and weaving and working at the library!  Talk to you soon!  I mean it...
