Sew Day
I had a plan last week: Have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered Friday, work Saturday at the library, and spend all Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday moving that dirt around the yard. I worked for about two hours Sunday, got about 8 wheel barrows of the dirt into raised beds, and then rested.
Today, it is raining, and it plans on doing it all day. Fine. I can wait. It looks like the last frost is going to be Wednesday, possible Thursday, so I can get more shifted tomorrow, and definitely work Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I forgot to finish the sale when buying seeds last week, so since they're running late, I'll direct sow them when they get here. It's only April 7! So I get squash in August. There are surely worse things!
With the nasty forecast, I've decided to sew today. I've got a big piece of beautiful plum-colored linen I bought at Textile in Nashville, which sadly closed last month. The pattern is the Classic Shirt from The Modern Sewing Company, an independent sewing pattern company I highly recommend. I still need to wash the linen, so I might not get to cutting it out until later.
And this old favorite pattern from 1991 that I've probably made 15 times, at least. I've had to lengthen the collar and cuffs, but the rest fits fine, and I love it. I'm going to add gathering to the front and back, probably not the sleeves. This fabric I bought at the quilt shop a couple of weeks ago. It will look great with the skirt, as well as lots of other things in my wardrobe.
April socks are coming along, not my favorites, since I started a different pair with the needles still in transit, but I will show you those next time. Have you ever knitted beads into socks? We'll see how that goes. It's what happens when I don't like the yarn, Something has to make it look better.
My battery is low, and the sewing room is calling. Have a crafty week!
